# About

## What we are building

A modular business suite, in the spirit of the big all-in-one ERP systems, that is open, portable and ready for AI agents from the start. It covers CRM, sales, invoicing, products and contacts today and aims at accounting, inventory, manufacturing, HR, projects, point of sale, e-commerce, website, marketing, helpdesk and documents.

obop is a clean-room re-implementation of ideas that business software has proven over decades. It does not copy anyone's code.

## Principles

- **One business, one platform.** One data model for every app, so nothing needs gluing together.
- **Agents are first-class, and limited.** Scoped tokens, masked personal data, and approvals for anything irreversible.
- **Open and portable.** The source is public, it runs on PostgreSQL, and a business's data is its own.
- **Honest.** We say what is built and what is not. No invented customers, quotes or numbers: this site has none because there is nothing real to show yet.
- **Plain language.** Documentation and interface say what they mean.

## Who builds it

obop is built by [SpaceCorps](https://github.com/SpaceCorps). The code, the decisions and the roadmap are in the [repository](https://github.com/SpaceCorps/obop).

## Technology

The backend is Rust. The web apps use Vite+ and React. This website is a static site generated with VitePress from Markdown and a shared design system, in seven languages.
